Barnawartha
GrainGrowers has partnered with the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator
(NHVR) to host free workshops on the ‘Chain of Responsibility’ to help growers
understand their legal obligations under updated heavy vehicle transport safety
laws. The laws and regulations can sometimes be confusing, so these practical
workshops have been designed specifically for grower questions to be answered.
The Barnawartha COR workshop will be followed by an on-site tour of the
SCT rail terminal at the Logic Centre Barnawartha. In 1974 Peter Smith
established SCT Logistics, an Australian owned and operated multi-modal
transport and logistics company. SCT transports containers from Barnawartha to
Perth, Brisbane, and the Port of Melbourne.
SCT commenced its first service in October of 2016. SCT owns and operate
train services. Trains go through to Brisbane and “Bolt on” to Port. SCT has
the ability to handle palletised freight, container loads, and refrigerated
containers as well as store ambient and refrigerated containers.
There will also be a tour of the Formula Forage Site where grain is
packed into containers bound for the Port of Melbourne
For the tour all guest are required to wear enclosed footwear, Steel cap if possible. If you have a High Vis Vest handy please bring it along.
